Working for hours and hours on your favorite site or blog? Thinking of how much would your blog be sold for if you ever think of doing it? Anyway, most of us would not will to part from the soul of ours as we have put up so much energy and so much vigor into it and that getting separated from what you have cherished for so long would be a decision that many of us would not even think of. But, recently, monetizing the blogs/sites and placing them on the market place had become so common that many a publishers are not into buying them anymore.

What is required to be able to sell off the site with a hefty cheque? You can get these hints and tips at some of the most famous blogs which are hosted by professional bloggers like Darren Rowse, John Chow and many more. You can get tips and tricks from the above mentioned and other blogs which I would share in another post. So, what are we into here? Realizing the price of your blog, right?

So, what we have here are the two bench marking web sites which collect the information regarding your blog, its age, its page rank, its backlinks, its traffic stats and with it comes the popularity of your blog. How are these found out in the first place? They are based on the analysis found on your Technorati Authority (know more) and the number of people referring you in their blog rolls and as already mentioned, the popularity of the blog. So, where do you stand when the keywords of your blog are searched for in the Google and the backlinks are mostly taken by the Yahoo Site Explorer which provides many an options to check your incoming links, all these are taken into consideration which is based on a complex algorithm.

The widely used service used to find out the value of blogs and sites is DNScoop.

As the easy and intuitive interface is self explanatory, just enter your blog/site’s URL into the text bar provided and “Check it” for the details which you would have not thought upon until now. I have tkane an example of finding the price of our favorite search engine “Google” and check out the results I have got.

So, the birth date of Google can be seen in the first categorized section of the above image along with the present age. The most drooled about when a site is started and time goes by is the site’s pagerank.(What is PageRank?) This tool specifies the PageRank of the searched site too. Thats great. Now, comes some of the important elements which depict the importance of your blog/site and its popularity.

In the above figure, you can check out the backlinks, i.e., the number of pages which are pointing towards Google.com are shown. Note that these link numbers would change in number because some new sites/blogs would take life and point at google and some others might remove the pointers. The Alexa Rank is considered as very important for many bloggers which are budding. So, you can improve your Alexa Rank by installing its toolbar and working on the guidelines provided.

Next comes the dream numbers: the cost of your blog/site. We were checking Google right? So, whats the price of Google.com anyway?

A whopping $1,827,000,000??? Who would buy it anyway? Who can afford it anyway? Someone can. So, using this tool you can find out the price of your blog and if you wish to sell it off, you can do so using the DNScoop’s Marketplace.
