Prevent Slow Startup and Shutdown of Windows XP-Speed Up With Presto

Have you ever come across a situation when you just wanted to check a mail quickly, that you were waiting for and you need to hurry after checking it. You don’t have time for the Windows XP to boot up and load all the required drivers. You don’t have the time to wait for the POST operations to happen and the OS makes a scan for the hardware and loads up the required softwares, so that you can work without a hassle once it boots up. But, all you need to kick start after start-up is, power up your browser and go to your email service provider and check just one mail. Phew!Valuable time lost, isn’t it?

Get ready to spend around $19 and boot-up into a new kind of an Operating System which fires up instantly and lets you browse the net, watch videos, make calls using Skype, listen to music and even edit and create office documents such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Too good to be true?

So, what is the installation process like? Does it come in a CD? How long does it take to install this Operating System? What are the specifications to install? Hmm, how?

Follow these steps:

How to install Presto

  1. Agree to the Beta terms and download the Presto Beta software using the link above.
  2. Double-click on the Presto file you downloaded to start the installation wizard.
  3. Follow the wizard instructions. Presto installs in C:\Presto by default.
  4. When installation is complete (this takes several minutes), restart your computer.
  5. When your computer restarts, select Xandros Presto from the Windows boot menu that appears. (If you make no selection, Windows starts by default after 30 seconds.)

That’s it fellas. There you have a swanky new operating system which waits in the boot sequence menu as a dual boot and as an alternate for your previous Windows Operating system. So, how does the desktop look like?

Interesting. What platform is this based on?

If it really is that quick to load up then it may be useful for an in-car PC setup…
