Many internet users worldwide use different kinds of email services and social networking sites. And accessing multiple email addresses from different email services is just painful because you need to login once and keep on logging off to check your multiple mail accounts if you are using a single service like gmail. I use gmail frequently and I do have 4 email addresses which are active and I receive 10s of useful mails everyday. And checking them one by one is surely a headache.

A basic search engine results page of Google is quite boring, if I have to agree. The conventional wisdom bestowed upon us with a lots of white space does make look like The Bible.
Looks quite old, right? Google has changed most of the front page with new features added and so many makeovers, but the results page had always remained the same with results on the left and ads on the right. Now, change this look with simple Firefox add-ons.

Gmail Gets Ads in between Mails
Jerome, while confirming a train ticket came across a Google ad placed just above that email. This is quite new as this had not been seen elsewhere and people are not well acquainted with.
Here is what it looked like:
Here is the direct comment made by Jerome explaining the position of the ad:
This promotion for a flight France-Iceland appeared just above an email confirming my booking of a France-UK train ticket (Eurostar). Contrary to the classic side ads, I did take a look at this discreet and smart ad.
I guess I won’t skip those new ads any time soon, since they’re directly inserted in my thread. I hope Gmail will never try to include banners here!
I am expecting a response from Google team who have been asked about this.
Have you seen these kind of ads?
Wikipedia like DotSpots-Mark The Text Anywhere and Add Your Comment
DotSpots, a new semantic matching application from the company CrunchBase is up and effective now, after being demoed for the first time, with new signups being accepted on request. DotSpots provides its users to mark the text anywhere on the web and write a comment for that particular text. So, later on if anyone else comes on to the same page, and if they are registered with DotSpots, they can view your comment and even add their own comment along with giving thumbs up or thumbs down for the comment you have posted.
What does DotSpots do?
DotSpots is a service which gives the power to the users by identifying and indexing semantically similar content across millions of news sites and blogs.
How is this possible?
The users, both bloggers and individuals alike, can individually or collectively mark a piece of text(one or a few paragraphs) on their favorite sites and they can add comments, videos and photos. Then these comments and further additions are accessible by anyone with DotSpots account, with a Firefox add on to view and rank the comments added by the bloggers and individuals there by increasing the authenticity and adding up of more resources to that particular kind of news.
Err, What’s in it for Us? How does this help in benefiting ME?
The readers with DotSpots account are benefited in a view that, if you are going through a news sites, like BBC or CNN and f there are any comments on a particular news, these comments act as an add-on to that particular news. Bloggers and individuals pose their own views making the page, not a NEWS site centric view but a personal point of progression.
TechCrunch is giving a few invitations for people to test and provide feedback in order to improve this feature which will hit the streets for public. So, after a few months, we can expect individual’s comments not in the comments section, but on the main content just like this.

Wordpress bloggers vouch for the features provided by Thesis theme. Thesis had released v1.5 a few months back and after that Thesis v1.5.1 followed which provided Developers and bloggers alike with umpteen features which 1.5 had lacked.
DIYThemes has now launched an upgraded version of Thesis named Thesis 1.6 for Developers only now. Now, moving ahead, without using the OpenHook plugin and also without editing the source file and FTPing and checking for details, now Thesis v1.6 has included an internal editor to manage and manipulate the custom.css file.
This is only one feature which I have mentioned, while there are really a ton of options which are still in testing mode. So, Thesis users, wait for a few more days and you would be prompted to download an update for the ever loving Thesis v1.6 theme from DIY.
Some features which I loved the most and wish to check are:
- Controlling font colors and background color and nav menu from design and color options itself.
- Automatic nav menu drop down

- /rotator folder moved into /custom folder to exemplify the feature.
and a few more….

WordPress Acquires After The Deadline Contextual Spelling and Grammar Checking Plugin
Automattic recently bought a company called After the Deadline(Strange name for a company!) which provides a service with the same name. This service can be used on WordPress.com and it helps in contextual spelling and grammar checker. As blogosphere is cramming up with newbie bloggers who aren’t native English speakers makes reading their blogs a little bit of trouble. As it’s a golden rule not to make these 5 grammatical errors, it’s also a general rule of the thumb to use misused words which spoil the real meaning of what the blogger is trying to say. In order to increase the readability of a blog, it has to follow certain principles not to have spelling mistakes and grammatical errors which make the content hard to read and understand.
After The Deadline is a free plugin for WordPress.com and WordPress.org users. While Self hosted blog users must provide their API Key in order to use the plugin in their editor.

Lets have a look at this plugin in action at Matt Mullenweg’s blog post.
You need to get an API key to activate this plugin. For this, you need to register at After The Deadline website which you go from the plugin’s page in your WordPress self hosted blog admin dashboard. While WordPress.com API Key doesn’t work for this. I do not understand why Automattic has not enabled WordPress.com API Key to be working with After The Deadline plugin.
You can download and install this plugin on your own or use the ‘Add New’ feature in your Plugin section in the blog’s dashboard.
