Other Sources for Bloggers to Make Money Online-Affiliate Sales

Blogosphere is crawling with enthusiasts blogging their fingers off in the aim of making surplus income online. But, how far are they successful enough in order to fill their pockets with at least a bit of what pays their internet and as well as electricity bills? I am quite sure that there are not many who make that kind of money and who are just trying with never say die attitude. The next posts are for those kind of bloggers. If you are awaiting those bulky pay checks which you always read on other blogs and over the forum posts at DigitalPoint and other similar kind of forums, then this series is a must read for you guys and gals(a few).

As always, I do suggest new readers to subscribe in order to be in the loop and learn a thing or the other in the next posts. Do not be jumpy and leave after reading this solo post. Subscribe to our mailing list and know when the next update hits this blog. You will not be disappointed. After a series of these posts, it’s your call to unsubscribe. And also, please do not expect any out of the blue advice from Me. I am straight to the point and hate beating the dead horse.

Today, I would like to discuss one of the trend that is widely popular to make money online and I am aware that most of your people are well known to this word: Affiliate Commission. I will NOT go deep into sharing the secrets of earning hundreds and 1000s of dollars per month, because it’s not that easy and bloggers who blog just to share what they know would never make it to a $100 mark that soon. I will let you know a few things which do not take up most of your time but which will prove to be able to bring in a couple of hundred dollars a month.

If you ever come across any article or blog post which says earning through Affiliate Commission is like a cake walk, you better close that browser window and head over to Digg or StumbleUpon to kill your time. Affiliate Commission, in all terms, is not that easy to hit the nails upon. I had been partially successful but I think that the effort which I had put in, if put in blogging and developing my present blog would have been an instant hit.

So, what exactly are you going to talk about Affiliate Commission here?

You say that it’s not going to bring in money, but you yet keep on talking about it. The general mantra for simple and effective earning through affiliate commissions is, take up affiliates which suit your style of writing on your blog. If you are a blogger and you are reading this post, I consider that you might have come across this post through a web search and or a referral link from a friend of yours or some other channel. So, you are into blogging and you blog about one or the other niche. I advise you to choose the perfect affiliate products which jel well with your blog posts.

For example, I blog about technology, reviews, blogging and WordPress. I tend to focus on affiliate products which suit to the posts that I mostly do on this blog of mine. If you observe closely, I have put affiliate links to several products related to WordPress themes, Twitter applications, and trust me, they do bring in money for me by the end of the month. I do not state that I earn thousands, but yes, I do earn hundreds(2, to be exact, last month). By today, I am sitting on 300+ dollars and I am expecting it to hit 500+ by this month end.

Affiliate Commission Dollars

How did I do it?

Trust me, it’s simpler than it appears to be in text form. You need to jump into the traffic driving bandwagon and get hordes of traffic to your blogs and keep promoting one or the other product which is relevant. Please do underline this point, Do NOT keep on posting your affiliate links in every post of yours. Let the promotion be simple and importantly, subtle. Let the users know that you are promoting a product, but you are not compelling them to make a purchase. I leave you the choice of choosing the products and affiliate network sites as you must be already aware of different  similar kind of sites. Do share with us which networking sites you use the most.

This does not make me an expert in affiliate marketing. I am just a newbie who is yet in his diapers when it comes to earning through affiliate commissions. But, I learnt it hard to let go of concentrating on keyword stuff to fill in your posts. This works only when you have quality posts and with the daily visitor count I have to the number of posts in my blog, I think I am ina comfortable position.

I sincerely urge you guys and gals to concentrate on other channels to earn through blogging. Do not focus on just Adsense and posts which get paid. I know that this is not a big kind of advise, but an advise is an advise. As  the quote goes,

We give advice by the bucket, but take it by the grain.

I was just like that until a few days back, but a good friend in the form of Harsh from ShoutMeLoud had changed my view point and showed me a way to let go some situations and concentrate on other channels too. If you are monetizing your blog or website but not making a few dollars for yourself, then it’s time to choose another area where you can excel. Not all flourish particularly in a single game. Sachin can’t beat Woods in Golf and vice versa. The same rule applies to us all.

  1. This is the major problem with budding bloggers, as adsense is over hyped and people look after adsense as only source of revenue. Adsense is good but should be mixed with affiliate income to double your income. Nice post Buddy hope to see some more post here soon :)

Thanks for the comment Che2on. I wanted to vent myself because I came across a few friends who are in blogosphere arguing intermittently about what’s happening in SEO and how to increase the income.

It was a healthy argument but as soon as they took a stand that Adsense is the only source of excellent income for bloggers and webmasters, I had to let my point be spoken and I corrected them. But, I wanted to let my readers and friends like you to know this too.
