Internet Explorer 8 Released-Downloaded-Corrupted-Adjusted-Disturbed

Do not get tired of that big title. Because, that is the impression that I have got after downloading and installing and repairing and after getting into Compatibility mode. Ever since there is the clash of browsers to take over the experience from the users and provide more and more robust and user-friendly features, Microsoft had always taken a back seat when the Open Source’s Mozilla Fire Fox has taken the center stage. Now, in order to reclaim the lost glory Microsoft had been working at its best to stay ahead of times and provide such a browser which would make the lives easier for the end-user. Now, they have opened up Internet Explorer 8 for download.

1. Downloading Internet Explorer 8:

It’s a 17 MB installation file which you can download from the official Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 Download page. The download is fast and there is nothing like validating your Operating System for Genuine Product Code, which I suppose is a hindrance taking into view that many people do install pirated versions of the OS and get away with it.

The usual stuff and the usual yellow bar on top asking whether to download the software is displayed where you can choose to always trust Microsoft.

2. Installing:

The installation takes 3-4 minutes based on the system’s speed and if you choose to install updates and patches then takes eternity, I suppose. Usual dialog box asking you to restart the system is displayed, for which you need to do that or else choose an alternate method to avoid restarting the system.

3. Trouble Starts:

• You do not get a shortcut on the desktop as usual. You need to go to Start->Programs and choose Internet Explorer shortcut in order to fire up the browser.
• The aggravated engine of the browser tends to look into the future by disrupting the actual layouts and the actual scripts running in a web page. I observed this pattern when I pumped up the browser and started to check this blog which is actually a conglomeration of various scripts like adsense, chitika, komli and what not. The first and foremost disruption which I observed is, the distorted images which are not the way they should appear. This is what IE 8 deciphered the PHP script like.

  IE 8 asks if we need to check the webpage in the compatibility mode which is displayed beside the address bar at the Refresh button.

  

• IE8 takes over the default search engine preferences and recommends using Windows Live Search as the default Search Engine in the browser, which is un-preferable.

Microsoft claims the numerous features of IE 8 to be at its best with the capabilities like malware blocking, accelerators, InPrivate Browsing, Web Slices, Search Suggestions, SmartScreen Filter and important features like Automatic Crash Recovery, Browse Privately and Stay Safer Online. All in all, I am waiting to test drive IE 8 to its at most extent and I am devoid of the worry to import the bookmarks manually, because, there are 100s of them, frankly. That is because, IE 8 has imported the bookmarks from various browsers I have, I just use Fire Fox. So, only one.
