Bloggers are aware of how hard it is to get a valid backlink from high page rank websites or blogs. It’s a well known fact that the most viable option to increase the backlinks and there by increase the SERPs is to provide valid comments on the blog posts which cater to the same niche. Today, lets learn how to maximise the chances of getting more link juice from high Pagerank sites and that too for free.
We are aware that government owned and maintained websites with .gov TLD get more link juice from search engines. But, why do search engines provide so much importance to the .gov websites even though they are not esthetically designed, sites are sometimes incomplete with blank sections, crappy headlines and content and near to nothing SEO?

The answer is AVAILABILITY. Search engines give more importance to the content on government websites because the information on a gov. website is meant for the people and the information should be available to the people in search of it. This info is indexed by search engines and the keywords are set at high priorities, so that when a user searches using the exact keywords, the results match exactly to what the government is speaking about. The user is made aware of the information shared on a priority basis.
At times, recently this trend is in high wave, government websites have blogs on which professional bloggers employed by the government agencies blog. Their blog posts range from discussing the new reforms taken up by the government or new changes in the present laws and all the things which are looked upon by a government body.
These kind of blogs are mainly indexed by search engines because the blog is directly related to that .gov website under which it is being built. This makes the PR of that particular .gov blog hit the sky.
This is where the bloggers need to concentrate on to post valid comments based in the niche and leave a link in the
comment or website section of the comment form. As always, the comment should be relevant, up to the point and precise. Do not beat the dead horse and repeat what’s already in the blog post. Share your version of the blog post and tell the blogger where he had provided a valuable point or where he had faltered.
But, how to find these government blogs which allow us to post comments on them?
Use the following search query in any search engine, personally I prefer and checked extensively on Big G.
site:.gov inurl:blog “post a comment” -”you must be logged in”-”KEYWORD”
I think the search query is quite self explanatory. You are asking the search engines to give you a site which has a TLD of .gov. You are also asking to give government websites which have “blog” in their URL and providing optional sentences which are quite common on blogs like ‘post a comment’ or ‘you must be logged in’ and ‘keyword’.
The keyword might range from ‘anthrax’ to ‘zoo cleaning’. Check these samples:
site:.gov inurl:blog “post a comment” -”you must be logged in”-”travel”
site:.gov inurl:blog “post a comment” -”you must be logged in”-”construction”
site:.gov inurl:blog “post a comment” -”you must be logged in”-”taxes”
site:.gov inurl:blog “post a comment” -”you must be logged in”-”insurance”
Most of the government blogs require you to register before posting a comment. I would suggest to register, which is most probably FREE, and submit valid comments and leave a link to your website or blog.
You can replicate the same method to find educational websites, with a TLD of .EDU

I just started link building and came across your article. Really good information and I especially liked the string to put in for search engines. Another really great tool I found is a plugin for Firefox called SearchStatus. It shows which blogs are no follow. Also been a great help!

I am working on my backlinks, and have recently learned of the importance of .gov sites, but it really seems like you have to dig and dig and dig to find one site that will take comments that allow you to post your url link. Great idea, but seems very time consuming. I have gotten one of my real estate sites to the second page of Google for my desired key words, but I’m hoping my backlinks effort will move me to page one. Thanks for the post.

This is a great search string and if you use it in combination with a page rank add in you can quickly locate high PR sites in the search results generated. Make sure you do add useful and relevant comments, since it’s your credibility at stake, not just back link juice. Remember to ping the url once your comment is approved, to bring the spiders back for indexing.

Many of the sites being searched have a comment option but they dont specifically ask for my URL…. so in this case how would i be able to create a back link… would posting my URL on the Comment Section Work???
Thanks in Advance
Post a link with your anchor text. That would serve the purpose.
I understand that just posting a URL on a .gov website is NOT enough to get picked-up by the Google spiders and that it must be a valid hyperlink, i.e. underlined in blue, etc. which will also show the destination of the link when moused over. Unless you are the editor of the blog, posters or folks leaving comments won’t have the option to turn the URL into a real hyperlink. It’s a link – - it’s just no hyper! Will a standard link suffice and be picked-up by Google?
This is really good site for get the back link and use this site for make aback link.. so really thanks for this…
Great article, but why does the search term have a minus “-” in front of the keyword? Won’t this find all pages that don’t have that keyword? Don’t we want to find blogs that are related to our keyword?
wow! This is fantastic info. I’m definitely using it today to post my links. THANX.
Thats a pretty helpful search string!

Actually reading and making an intelligent relevant comment on these sites is the only way that you will find that your comment sticks to these blogs You also do not want to spam every link in a 40 blog network onto the same site from the same ip on the same day. In other words, spread your posts out over time and be polite. In addition, do not link all of your text to your homepage and one set of keywords, spread your links amongst the deeper links of your site, which will increase the bandwidth your link consumes.
Wow thanks for the great insight!
Thanks for this, twice really,
