Starting today, I am going to write on increasing Traffic to websites and blogs in a time tested manner. These steps are pre-dominant, but often overlooked my many enthusiastic bloggers and webmasters. This information is followed and maintained regularly and checked for its results over many years of working on client’s blogs to attract good and decent amount of traffic.

Lets move on and get to know on how we can use a completed profile to drive traffic and increase the site visitors.

How many of you have social networking profiles on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Digg, StumbleUpon, Squidoo and other social media sites? Lots of us do have an account on one or the other kind of social networking websites.

Now, tell me how many of us have paid real attention in editing the Profile section of your account?

Incomplete profiles social media trafficHow many of us have a completed profile which speaks about Us and on our behalf in a pleasant and pleasing manner?

For tons of time, I didn’t care about social networking sites other than to publish my own posts and playing games on them. Rather than aiming at long term goals, I had taken a mid rift and spent most of the time in playing Farmville or uploading photos or opening new links from various tweeters(not following the same order, of course). Did I benefit from these activities in any manner? Yes, I have.

In which manner? Personal satisfaction without attaining any particular goal. These activities had given me temporary joy while I was down or looking out to spend some free time online. But, these were short term and did not yield the results as I expected them to do so. Well, to come out frankly, I didn’t expect them to do me any good other than providing me a few minutes of joy at the cost of deviating from what I had been working on. OK, lets leave that and get on to what we were discussing.

As we have already discussed on Whether Blogging is Hard to Do, Social Networking websites are a good repository of different kind of people who have varied tastes and interests. The primary objective of a blogger or a webmaster has to be ‘Building Social Network’ using this kind of media. But, how do you do that?

The principle which applies in real life also applies to the online life. In order to make friends online, and on the social networking websites, the first step to be taken is “Look Authentic’. Lots of spam accounts on social networking websites are a pain in the a$$ to filter and ignore. So, as soon as you create an account and activate it, do try to fill in the profile with as much valid information about you. It need not be all true like sharing your personal details and your residential address or phone numbers and your bank information. Keep your private info, Private. This increases the position of your persona when you post any information to any other person on the network.

Using these simple steps would take the person to the next level of personal and professional success. This kind of methodology increases the network and increases friends, there by increasing the viewership of your profile and there by achieving our purpose, Increasing the website traffic by building network.

A lot of people seem to skip over this and completely miss the point of social media. Instead of building one account; increasing their followers and branding, they create dozens of accounts which don’t make up for it.

Part of that, which the post touched on quite nicely, is the lack of participation as simple as filling out the profile. From there, just share things other than your own links, ya know?
