Do you where spam originates from? Yeah, online spam. The hubs of spam origination are topped by Mexico, Russia, China and India. And, yes I am an Indian. What did I do? I have sent more than 100 spam mails to all my contacts. So, 1 spam mail for 100 contacts were sentĀ from my Gmail account. Why did I do that?
Today when I tried to log-in to my Gmail account, I was welcomed by a message from Google. I had provided my email id and password just like normal day and I was offered the following page:
Not at all a good sight. This signifies that my account had been flagged as a spam account and I was being asked to verify my authenticity, which I was more than willing to do because this is my primary email address through which I am in touch nearly more than 500+ contacts and several clients. I promptly provided my phone number to receive a SMS from Google with a 6 digit authentication code to verify. I provided the code in the following page:
After I verified by giving the code that I got in an SMS, I was asked to change the password immediately as Google suspected that there was some kind of fraudulent activity from my inbox. I did so and I got my age old inbox with all mails intact.
My advice for my readers would be to change the password at least after a period of 90 days so that you do not face a security breach.
