Recently I tried to update my WordPress CMS software to the latest version 3.0.4 as Lorelle had stated that it has crucial security updates. When I first started blogging, I used to take the precautions like backing up the posts by exporting them, backing up the database and other important files, take a note of all the plugins I am using and any custom code modifications I have done. But, as my number of blogs grew and I started doing niche site building services, I set up plugins to take backups on regular basis and stopped doing them manually. So, coming to the topic on hand, I upgraded the WordPress to 3.0.4 as the update notification was lingering at the top of my admin screens.
But, the automatic update of the WordPress core failed.
Never happened to me in my 4 years of blogging. It was on a client’s site that I was performing the update and I consider this as a crucial update as the website holds some secure information and I did not wish to loose on to the updates provided.
